I had a great date with a 2 1/2 year old!!

One of my regrets last year was not spending enough time with Jared alone especially after AJ was born. I know that wasn't the easiest thing to accomplish with a new brother but Jared needs that one on one time alone with his parents. My dad was a busy dad and pastor growing up but he seemed to always find time to take us out on "turn outs."
So today I called and found out if our aquatic center was opened our not..and what their hours were. When you live amongst 500 feet of snow ( it seems) during the winter..you tend to get cabin fever and we are so blessed to have the most amazing swimming pool for a small town. It is inside ( of course) and heated. I decided to take Jared and have a little one on one with mommy time. We had a ball. He held on to my neck ( from the back) while I did laps..talk about exercise...
He jumped to me a million times..not counting to three..but 5..7..9..or even 11..
He sat on the edge of the hot tub while I soaked and he threw the ball back and forth to me. Then I held him high enough to throw the basketball in the basket next to the edge of the pool. He then told the lifeguard .."thank you for watching me.." and we went to subway for some dinner together. What a difference it made it him just having time alone for him with no interruptions..
I have to make it a point to do that more often with the both of them by themselves..especially when AJ gets older as well..
I wish that I had pictures..but camera..near water..do not go together...

Paul still talks about his "turn outs" with your dad to Grandy's for cinamon rolls!

it's hard to spend special time with each baby- and they'll always be your baby!- but we do the best we can and cherish every moment together.
